Greetings ladies and gents!

I did this before but now I am ready to make a decision on a Digital SLR

I am leaning toward this one.
Canon 6.3 MP EOS Digital Rebel Kit with 18-55mm Lens

Also I am aware of the Nikon I think it is a D70.

Looking for input from rail photographers...the good, bad and the ugly.

Thanks!

Bob and Janice

Bob,
I've been using Canon cameras for about 30 years. I've used the Canon AE1, A1 and, in the Army, the F1. Last summer I picked up a Rebel Ti. I have always been happy with their performance. I recently purchased the new 20D and so far, it follows the tradition of those Canon 35mm cameras. I do not hesitate to recommend them.
I am sure there are Nikon and Minolta users who feel the same way about their cameras. I'm not sure there is ONE that is better than the others, so pick one that feels good and is easy for you to use and go train chasin'.

The Nikon D70 gives you a lot more manual control of the Camera than the Digital Rebel does. I have been shooting with the D70 since last March and love it.

I kinda am old school, I mainly take my Nikon E990 (and occasionaly my dad's E5400) on railfan trips. May be old but still useful :D.
