On other boards there are posts about the Union RR painting a switcher yellow, a major change from the long standing blue.

More than one reply indicated this could be a US Steel mandate for the entire fleet.

So this brings up the question: which lines are still owned by US Steel?

Patapsco and Back River would no longer be US Steel if I am correct about the current ownership.

Birg. Sou? The new Gary RR (remants of the J)?

Who else?

Transtar is the US Steel subsidiary that owns the railroads. I would think that this new pale (almost neon) yellow scheme you see at the Union is likely the new thing for the Transtar roads, as the EJE switchers were being repainted similarly just before the CN merger, likely in preparation for the transition to the new Gary Railway (the portion of the EJE still owned by Transtar not sold off to CN). Transtar's website lists all of their properties:


PBR was actually a Bethlehem property, not US Steel. It has been out of that "family" for a while, as Ispat sold the Sparrows Point mill to Mittal in their buying binge several years ago. The mill is now owned by Russian steel giant Severstal.
