Hi guys!!
I have here a photo I snapped late this afternoon, with the sun at about a 45-degree angle to the horizon, and behind me. Yet they kicked it for "high sun," a rejection that I normally am troubled with only during the summer months when the sun is directly overhead. Can anyone please explain? Thanks in advance for all suggestions and criticisms.

Need a direct link to the rejection itself...

Another made up rejection, only thing i could get it for is bad color, it has a bit too much of a blue tint. Might be worth appealing since the rejection is dead wrong.

OT: When's that loco going to be shipped out, was supposed to be down my way in Georgia a few months back!

I agree with Nikos in that it looks like the screener hit the wrong button, the colour does look off. I would try adjusting the colour and resubmitting rather than appealing.

Yea a case of clicking the wrong box, Colors are off. I do wish they would take more time to get it right as the new photographers may be miss lade.

I think there actually is a smidge of poor lighting here. It's obviously not High Sun, but there are some slight shadows on the trucks, esp. of the cars. I'm wondering if the slight lighting issues with the bad color made them click High Sun a little too quickly. I saw the poor lighting right off. Maybe with the color correction, the lighting issues would not be prevalent at all.

Keep in mind this is basically a roster shot of the entire train. There are no other elements included here save for sky and gravel. Thomas barely is visible. They may wish to have perfect lighting to accept it.

Another made up rejection
Not really. It says "poor lighting."

When put into perspective, the angle of the sun to the subject is a little poor, seeing as the nose has direct sunlight and the photographer chose the side of the train as the main subject. Had he composed this image with the nose as the main subject, then the lighting would have been been perfect.

They need to create a rejection that states something about the sun being at a poor angle to the subject. That would clear up a lot of confusion with these "poor lighting" rejections, IMO.

Bingo. The entire train is pretty much backlit. Good nose light, but the whole side of the train suffers from some odd shadows.

Also, if your image only offers a train as the only subject, it really has to be done very well.
I hope Travis doesn't mind, but when I saw his comment included above about another photo in another thread, I thought of this shot too.

The light may be shining more on the nose than the sides, but it cannot even be called noselit, calling it backlit is just flat out wrong. i see no odd shadows that you would get from straight on noselight (long shadows going straight back)
Thankfully sanity has prevailed......

Should have got pinged for Similiar to Previous. Neitehr of those shots are really that great.

That may have been valid, though we still then have the three identical F shots. Not spectacular but good enough for the situation. If i found a Tunnel motor on a passenger train i would probably want a nice sunny 3/4 wedgie too.

Do shots have to be "great" now to be submitted to RP? I guess I shouldn't bother submitting any more wedgies.

Note my comment was made directly after I said it should have got pinged for Similiar to Previous. If only great shots were submitted to RP, I think I might have one shot in the database.

What difference does it make when you said it? You clearly said "neither of these shots is really that great." What was the point of that comment?

Gee, Jim. I kinda thought it was self explanatory, truth be known.
