Foreground Clutter?

Just curious. First version was rejected for unlevel and foreground clutter. I leveled, then resubbed with a note about the previous rejection and saying "it's a railroad bridge."

It may have some color issues in this version, but that's a moot point since they have spoken twice on the FC.

poor lighting kills it, has a high sunish feel and the side of the train and bridge is dark.

While I am generally a fan of bridge/trestle shots with a composition similar to yours (by similar, I mean looking up at the massive structure from below), I think that perhaps some elevation would've been your best bet. I think there is some foreground clutter that appears a bit distracting. Maybe if you were level with the bridge, or slightly higher than the bridge, you'd have a winner.

With a wide angle I think it may have a chance to get in but the telephoto there to close to blocking the train, I think the time of day will get it if FC didn't, just needs more side light. I like the shot and would take if I was there but would wishing for better light.

John, I agree. I didn't mention this in my original post, as I thought it may be a result of high sun conditions. I know my XSi got rather confused during the summer months and gave everything an odd cast. I became quite familiar with the "bad color" reject between May and September.

I'll have to go back and look at the original. The first few times I went to process it, I automatically decided to B&W white, but even then it didn't come across as I thought it should. As far as elevating myself for this shot, that's a no go at this location. I do have some wide angle shots from this location and I think one of them is on RP.

I have to say the above version is the best oone and certainly pleasing to my eye. I like the lighting and cropping much better.

Joe that looks much better IMO.
