Railpictures.net has been uploading photographer's photos for 2 years now! I'm glad to be one of those photographers, even though I don't have a lot of pictures here.

This talk got me curious. Just what was photo #1 on this site.....

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=1

I have been with this site since the beginning. The first photo that I uploaded was #415....

I have met a lot of nice people through this site, some of which are now good freinds.

Thank you Chris Kilroy and Chris Starnes.

All this talk about 'First Pictures' made me think. I uploaded my first photo on 28-Apr-03...photo #13104. Seems like a long time ago in some ways and just yesterday in others.

Thanks to the gang at RP for another great year!

Thanks for the comments guys. I had almost forgot about our 2 year "birthday." I would have never thought it would have grown to where it is now!

Thanks to all of you for the uploads...thats what makes it all happen.

I popped in a bit later, with my first photo http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=33508 on September 26th '03. I was actually surprised that shot got accepted!

Anywho, congratulations RP on it's second birthday! :)

  2 Years Congrats to Railpictures:) Whether it is moot for me to say that or not given some of my occurances I still was to say Thank You in some fashion for providing a great site to share photos of the worlds greatest hobby:)

All this first shot talk got me digging. My First was on March 27th, 2003 and is seen here: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=9393 and was photo number 9393.

After talking with a couple friends that both CS & myself know I really have seen the light at the end of the tunnel & think through out it all I have beneifited in the learning process in many ways.

Take Care,

Congrats to RP for two years online! I waited until today (14 Dec) to post in this thread since it was one year ago today that I took the plunge and offically became a railfan when I took my first photo of a train:

I didn't get a chance to upload this shot until 8 Jan, but I still consider 14 Dec as my 'birthday.' That shot is very special to me as it is the only rail photo I was able to to take before my father passed away just 15 days later after a long battle with cancer. I'm grateful to RP for accepting it as it always reminds me of my dad and his life everytime I see it.

Unfortunately, training has taken up all of my daylight today so I can't get a one-year anniversary shot this year, but there's always the one year plus a day anniversay to get tomorrow!

Another Happy Birthday to RailPictures.net! :)

For me, it all started with this photo (which was actually taken on my birthday): http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=21484

Ever since then, I've been hooked. :D One thing I can't believe is how much RP.net has grown in the 17 months that I have been here. When I first joined on July 15, 2003, RP.net only had about 19,000 photos. Since, it has ballooned to over 76,000!

Thank you Chris Kilroy and Chris Starnes!

I joined in July, 2003 and there were about 22,000 or so photos in the database. For the record, here's my first shot:

Railpictures has really helped me to become a better photographer. I was actually looking through all my older photos the other day, seeing if there was anything worth uploading, and came across four shots actually worthy. It was downright amazing to see how bad some of my older photos were, and it was obvious that there has been a lot of progress made. Thanks Railpictueres.net, and congrats on two years online!
