I submitted this (http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=778893&key=873444317) this morning, but it was rejected. How do I fix the touch of blurry? I sharpened and got the attached. Any other suggestions?

More sharpening, a trick I sometimes use is you can do is selectively add contrast to the numberboards, that can clean them up some, wont help other areas though.

My concern is the grain in the shadows. I don't have selective anything in picasa, one of the reasons I am looking at switching editing software. Another is the lack of an anti-grain tool. Should I submit the pic I attached or is it too blurry, noisy, or something else?

It's a common angle shot that's blurry, and suffers from some noise in the sky. The question I have to ask you is this: If this shot belonged to someone else, would you like it?
Realistically, you could remove the noise, and sharpen the photo, and it would probably be accepted. If getting anything accepted is the goal, this one fits the fixable criteria.

I see a little blurring, but I think it mostly be poor image quality. It looks grainy to me. You may want to get another opinion though. What kind of camera are you shooting with?

I just looked at the exif, and you were shooting at ISO400, 1/1250 F8. For a stationary target, in that kind of light, you should be shooting at ISO100 or 200, that way, if you need to sharpen it, you shouldnt end up with noise like that. I am guessing you were shooting handheld too, which is fine, higher shutter speed will help, but maybe try a tripod or monopod. I dont know anything about your camera, but it looks like a P&S, so i'm not sure how much you have control over the settings. For stationary targets I like to shoot at ISO100 and F8 or F9 if the light is good. I'm not sure what more I can say, given the limitations in software you have.

Yeah, this is one of those cases where I am reaching back into the files to try to find something that may be RP worthy. And this is one of those shots. Now, shooting this shot, I would do it very differently, but that was six months ago. So, y'all think I should leave this in the personal files?
