If you haven't heard the news, Milwaukee Road (MILW) 261 has been purchased from the Nation Railroad Museum to the 'Friends of 261', during the week of April 25th & May 2nd. The agreement was signed by the Museum and the 'Friends' Chief Operating Officer Steve Sandberg. The Formal announcement of the Sale was made during National Train Day on May 8th.
This is fantastic news, not only for the 'Friends' or Railfans, but for Railroading in General. I've never witnessed 261 in person, but I'm happy that another Steam Locomotive can once again run on Mainline Tracks, even if this will be another restoration for 261.
