View Full Version : bad cropping

I'm assuming the bad cropping in this photo rejection refers to the large amount of sky and ground. I cropped the photo considerably on my second attempt, but it was still rejected for bad cropping (after sitting in the queue for quite a long time while other photos got around it). If I crop the photo anymore, I'm afraid it will be rejected for not being close enough to the desired size (it would be too stretched out). Will any amount of cropping get it accepted or should I just let this one go?
This is the original photo, slightly cropped:

This is the second attempt with more cropping:

On this one, try cropping some of the train out of the right side, and a little bit in front of it on the left. I think the photo just needs to be closer to 800x600, and you'll be able get closer to it with some cropping on both sides.

It's no wonder so many people defer posting to this site. I'd be QUITE proud of this shot, on my wall, framed, even if it's not accepted here.
Nice shot!

Thanks for the comment, Brad; after cropping the photo to Caleb's suggestion, the photo was indeed accepted as id no. 91563.
Thanks again,

Hello everyone, I could use some cropping advice on this rejected photo:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=90222
The original size is 1280x960, so I have some room to move boundaries, although, just ahead of the loco is the shadow of the bridge. I guess, the screener's are probably interested in a portorait crop for this photo, which I would dislike having to do. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There is a lot of dead space on the left and right. I think a vertical composure might work.

I agree too.
Then you lose the road, which adds to the photo. I'd crop some off each side, but not too much. :)
Nice shot, even if it still gets rejected.

Ditto.
Head on to the track is not a good angle to include the road.

Thank you all for the comments... I figured as much. Before I re-upload, take a look at it would ya? I am not very good at portorait cropping! The image size is 600x700. Thanks.

Still being rejected for bad cropping. Now, along with bad cropping, a bad angle rejection reason has been included! I think this is one of those "trash" photos. :x I don't think appealing against two reasons is going to work, and I can't immagine cropping the photo any tighter, dismissing the bad angle rejection. I had to shoot through a chain link fence to get this shot! Oh well.
Hey, it got accepted! Finally....
