81 of NS' Dash 9's were re-rated last month. These are the units:
NS 9275, 9276, 9299, 9305, 9312, 9318, 9333, 9356, 9378, 9382, 9392, 9395, 9403, 9416, 9422, 9429, 9431, 9442, 9448, 9452, 9460, 9467, 9469, 9496, 9499, 9505, 9514, 9518, 9520, 9525, 9546, 9566, 9584, 9597, 9599, 9601, 9605, 9608, 9612, 9614, 9623, 9628, 9637, 9644, 9640, 9651, 9653, 9661, 9676, 9680, 9689, 9693, 9698, 9701, 9702, 9725, 9726, 9739, 9745, 9765, 9769, 9796, 9812, 9816, 9817, 9825, 9829, 9832, 9833, 9836, 9838, 9841, 9847, 9883, 9889, 9907, 9918, 9923, 9953, 9967, 9971.

I got a shot of one 30 hrs. before NSDash9.com said it. So, I am assuming it was re-rated at least that long before.

Very interesting that NS has decided the benefits of de-rating their engines no longer outweigh the loss of horsepower.

The funny thing is CSX did just the opposite with their GEVOs earlier this year.

The FDL's should be more capable since they are 16 cylinders versus the 12 cylinder EVO's, so hopefully too many of these wont be blowing up (Well atleast the railroad should hope, by me the more that toast themselves the better, more SD60's on the point of trains :grin: )

HP is not hard to change just a setting on the computer. They wanted 4000 HP to use less fuel then 4400. Most diesels will put out a lot more, The FDL 16 would put out 6000HP if made to but it block wont hold up to long under that much HP and RPM's.
