Bad Cropping?

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=88960 was rejected for bad cropping, so was this http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=88929 (I thought it was a little grainy) but my brothers photo was accepted after mine was rejected http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=92932

It just needed to be closer to 1024x768 or 800x600. The grain is not too bad, but could be improved. The composition is nice.

Since the subject was brought up and this photo was rejected for bad cropping and the appeal was rejected. I wanted to share this with you before it's three days were up.

And comments for or against are accepted, I know this photo has a sign and a railfan/photographer in the shot but based on the subject the reason for rejection to me seems unfair...but that's just me.....

My guess would be for being similar to previously accepted photo.

Just keep at it for future photos. Your lighting, composition, etc. are good. Just getting the scanning down takes time and practice. Keep'em at 800x600 or 1024x768 (or at least reasonably close, it doesn't have to be exact) and avoid the grain.

Ken, that's a great shot! The only thing is that the front of the loco is behind the sign, but I don't think it affects the photo badly. If the railfan and conductor were waving the half second before this shot, then I'd say you got bad luck with the sign; if they weren't waving then, well then you did the best you could.

Mark, my guess would be that there is not much space on the right it all. It's a bit cut off, in fact.

In my experience, the screeners are big on full wheel/truck visibility. Note in your brother's photo, you can see the tracks.
