They don't have their own paint scheme, but I still think its pretty neat to see a trio of GP18's hauling a unit coal train. The first two units are in RailAmerica paint and lettered for the Minnesota Northern (MNN). The third is painted the same, but lettered for the Ottertail Valley (OTVR)

Getting three matched units on a RailAmerica property is no easy task! Good on you, and thanks for sharing. Can you tell us a little more about operations on the Otter Tail Valley? I wasn't aware they were handling unit trains such as this.

The only unit trains to my knowledge are coal and grain.

The coal is for the Hoot Lake Power Plant in Fergus Falls. They can only take half trains at a time, so the rest is left in the yard back at Barnesville. When i found them, they had already broke the train in half and headed out. Would've been cool to see them three lugging the whole thing. When they go, i dont know. I just happened to see something lined onto the OTVR off the BNSF on ATCS one Sunday morning.

As for grain, ive never personally seen it, but BNSF does run shuttle trains to the elevator at French, Mn. Not sure how often that happens.

There was a 4th RailAmerica GP18 parked at the depot, so i could've gotten all 4 in a shot, but this curve intrigued me more i guess. ;)
