I just want to let everyone know that the game has been taken out of development and the idea has been scrapped. I felt the need to post this because I noticed a thread in which someone seemed quite excited about the alleged release of the game. I hate to burst everyone's bubble (including my own) but we will not see anything more locomotive-related from Microsoft

Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing it. I saw a preveiw of it on tech T.V. one day. Looked impressive.

I was looking forward to Train Sim 2 as well (back when it was announced). Y'all should give the Train Dispatcher sim a try. It's a heckuvalot more challenging then Train Sim ever thought of being.

I agree about Train Dispatcher! I never thought I would have fun with it since it was all 2D. I got a few of the free NS "territorys" and WOW! Also, if you are looking for a 3D train sim, give Auran's Trainz Simulator 2004 a look. Unlike MSTS, you can actually run around your train and couple to it without it crashing the game!

I had MSTS for awhile, and while it was fun is a way, I found it to be very unrealistic as far as the train handling and pyisics. After you spend almost 15 years on the real thing, the game just dont cut it. The most fun I had with it was running big steam, with the settings on manual. Running and firing it was a challange, but once again, not all that close to real life.
I was aslo running it on a old and slow computer, and that didnt help much. I have recently upgraded to a much better system set up for graphics work, so i MIGHT give it a try again one of these days if I get really really bored....

As Caleb said, TD3 is a lot more of a challange , and covers a aspect of railroading I have always had a intrest in but never had the chance to do in real life. At least you have to think a little to do it well, and the dang computer doesnt crash, hang up or just plain go nuts with the program :)

I have had MSTS for almost two years now. My best friend got me the add on, "Tehachapi Pass" for my birthday. I also have Cajon Pass. It's a very fun game. :)

Well that depends on what you want. Train Simulator is actually a really good quality game, but the stuff that comes with it is absolutely terrible. If you want some nice stuff check this out.
