I'm new here. Been shooting trains for a while, started when i was 11 or 12 with a Pentax P&S moved on to canon rebel 2000 then to an elan 2e from there made the digital jump to a used D30 canon to a 20D and finally on a 5D mk1
i don't get out as often as I would like but this may serve as my jump point to start shooting trains more again.

The more you shoot the better you will get like all of us at one time had to find out what they want in a photo to have much luck getting them on. Your not lacking good lenses or camera so your work to get it right I would think.

Welcome... glad to have you on board.
I'm old enough to remember when your town was North Tarrytown (and there was a GM plant close by).

Ah, the Elan 2e, I have the 7e great little 35mm. Nice gear, one of these days I'll add some L glass to my stable.
