Whats a good memory card out there to buy? I have a digital rebel. I was thinking of getting a Lexar. How about speed? Whats the best speed to get on a card? I was looking at one that was 4x. Is that any good?

Umm, 4x is way too slow. Get either the Sandisk Ultra II or the Lexar Professional 80x. I have and use both, and both have awesome write speeds. Plus, the prices for the 512mb versions are coming way down...

Thanks Dan. So the 4x means how fast the image is processed? Meaning it wouldnt work good for taking 3 shots in a row?

What about 16 X 128 MB Lexar Memory card as I dont have all that much to spend.

Ryan-

Get the fastest you can afford. I've got a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB in my 20D, and it's great. Only a couple times have I maxed out the buffer and had to wait a couple seconds for the card to catch up. As a comparison, I also have a cheapie 512MB card I picked up at BJ's as a backup. I filled the buffer (I shoot RAW, so it only takes 6 shots to fill it), and waited a good 15-20 seconds for the card to catch up so I can start shooting again.

For the Lexar 80x:
12.0 MB/sec minimum sustained write capability

For the Sandisk Ultra II:
Have a minimum sustained write speed of 9MB per second and a read speed of 10MB per second.

For the Sandisk Ultra III:
A minimum of 20MB/sec sequential write and read speed

So yes, the "x" denotes the speed of the card. Check the specs before buying. Get at least 40x...
