Another batch of ex CN/GTW GP9Rs was noted by Ken Lanovich on the Loconotes Yahoo group, sighted in Chicago. They are 4612, 4624, 4628, and 4630.

They are finally on the road, having arrived at Otto, IL this morning on CN L55591. Their destination shows to be Raleigh, which leads me to believe that the CN will be handing them off to the NS for the rest of their trip to the CLNA.

That means they have a pretty fair chance of making it there, as opposed to if they were shipped via the "other guys." :-)

Slowly but surely, NS is becoming alot like the "other guys". They'll probably make good time to Roanoke. From there on out is a crap-shoot.

I noticed the August newsletter is up for those who are interested:

These guys really are a friendly down home operation with a nice newsletter to boot!

Thanks for the link, Nick. It answered one of my questions-- and it appears the CLNA inherited the G&O power with the Nash County purchase. I stopped in Nashville on a road trip shortly after CLNA took over and still noted the power for the line was a G&O unit. I was curious if this was a short term lease until the GP9Rs could get up there. Now I know!

Rode by the yard in Wilson this afternoon and noticed another ex GTW GP9R sitting in the open air shop - #4604. Looks like this is the 6th GP9R unless for some odd reason they renumbered the 4630 which I haven't seen around recently. Others are 4612, 4621, 4628, 4624.

Never known the CLNA to renumber anything, so likely another addition.
