Its nice and sunny, I gave several varients...
The sun is out behind me, the clouds are coming in.
I would like to know the screnner that rejected this for future shooting. Thanks!

The lighting's the killer on this one. It looks like the sun may have been behind a layer of cirrus or stratus clouds, and that's why it doesn't appear to be direct sunlight on the unit...

Your horizon looks to be straight and your crop seems to be fine. However, RP.net tends to not like closely cropped photos for some reason. I have had the same problem you are having before on a photo. I do think the photo is a bit dark though. Good photo none the less; just might be one for your personal collection.

Thanks for the comments everyone..
I got a nice PM from someone saying the exact same thing. Atleast there is some feedback. It seems to be cloudy here 70% of the time. Living North of Lake Superior in a bay it sets alot of clouds overtop and in the summer, fog!

Yes.
Not too often on RP!
Everybody knows, well, should know that you're not going to get quality lighting on a cloudy day like you would on a sunny day. Besides, if you're going for a common angle of some common power, the light had better be spectacular.

Another thing that makes this picture look unlevel...
Theeeee banked curve! And the train is stopped :P
I also caught these trains, westbound's are poor light when the sun is out...

It's an older shot from when the site was newer and the grading criteria wasn't what it is now. Comparing older shots with today's standard is comparing apples and oranges...

I don't know; I wasn't here back then. But I will say, if you're going to start a website which focuses on building a Railroad photo database, you can't alienate the first generation of people submitting shots to your sight because you'll get nowhere. It's give and take. The database is getting filled with 3/4 wedge common power NS shots; that means the owners can start to tighten the clamp on the influx of those type shots...<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Yeah, it is a little on the dark side, but...
Bringing up something I shot and had accepted nearly a year an a half ago is irrelevent. Standards are higher now, and if I had uploaded the same photo today, it would be rejected. Get over it and stop whining.

Well said. I started posting photos in 2003, and several of my older shots would be rejected under the standards today (and yes, there was a screening process then). It's still not good to alienate people, but then again, those who are being alienated are the ones who take rejections personally and then do nothing to improve their photography.

Going back and finding older images to shove in someones face is not really a fair assement folks....
As previoulsy stated, when this site was first started the screening standards where not as tight as they are now. As the number of images and users have increased, the standards have also went up. I almost bet that any of the first users can go back through the database and find some "questionable" material that they had accpeted (that would not even come close today)...I know for a fact I can! Several folks have taken the time to weed out some of thier older "learning curve" stuff and I know that I plan to be the same very soon. The standards are consideraby higher now than they where 3 years ago, and will only continue to improve.
This thread seems to have drifted way off topic and is on the verge of becoming a flame war. It would probably best to let is go unless anyone has anything constructive to say about the starting topic.
