People either love or hate this website. I got to tell you, I only came here and entered photos after hearing a years worth of complaints. It was an ego thing...

Did I have what it takes to have my photos on RailPictures.Net. Well, I did have some photos worthy of posting...

Thanks for posting that message. It is refreshing to see something other than the standard "whiner" post which is, by far, the normal type of stuff we see when people talk about RP.net on the other sites.

Bottom line: the people who whine about RP.net are those who are unable to take criticism of any sort. It's an ego thing, and it's quite sad sometimes to see grown men act like children when one of their photos gets rejected...

Exactly. An inability to take criticism won't help a thing. I was actually midly surprised to find only a few negative comments in that thread, considering the comment Chris made about the large number of "whiner" posts.

Sparky, good post. I just read all the responses.

The criticism is the best part, in my opinion. It has helped me greatly. While I do not agree with every rejection, rejections give a path to learn to take better pictures. I certainly do not take them personally, and neither should anyone else. Sometimes I wonder, what are these guys thinking when I get a rejection? But, it's their site, they have the say in what goes on it, and if they don't like it, too bad.

Anyway, I am probably not saying anything here that hasn't been said before.

I have to agree, I like the site a lot, otherwise I would not post pictures to it.

I was surprised to see only a few people complaining. I think those with strong tendencies to bitch about it are not open to trying again or learning from the rejections. It's called sour grapes. And nothing is perfect in this world, that includes the screening process on this site. Deal with it. Have fun. Take more pictures.

Seriously, though, thank you for the very nice post over there, and I hope that as time goes on, some of the people who believe that we are just "out to get them" will realize that's not true, take a little bit of advice, and enjoy this website for what many other people already do!

On a serious note, I could wallpaper my house with rejection letters from the magazines. Here, you have a much better chance of exposure. Submit your BEST work and you'll get in.
