Yes it is the same location and the same lashup BUT I took mine at a wider angle and about 10 feet higher than my little brothers.

Yeah, but those four different shots were taken from four different angles (and locations, I think). Bottom line: they all look different.

Your shot vs. your brother's is essentially the same shot. Sure, yours was higher, but it would be like me going out, taking a photo standing up, and then taking a picture of the same exact train from a squatting postion. It's the same thing.

Just a bit of advice: if you're going out taking pictures of the same train with your brother and you both want to display your photos here, you'll have to work it out and submit your photos at different times. Sure, that could be considered gaming the system, but at least you won't be in here whining.

This screeners are about has sporadic as the goverment.

Well, at least those of us who draw a paycheck from the government can spell!! ;)

It doesn't matter, they both look the same. Why don't you try shooting a different angle than your brother, or at least wait a few days until you upload? Trust me, that works better than whining about it on the forums.

What is funny is the accepted FOUR pictures of the same train yesterday!

What's even funnier is that the four shots were in different locations.

This screeners are about has sporadic as the goverment.

Wouldn't this be similar in the previously accepted catorgory. This screeners are about has sporadic as the goverment.

This quote is 100% false. Please think before making yourself look like a "donkey". Whatever photo makes it first will get accepted and the other, similar one, will get rejected. Are you actually serious that you thought both of those photos would be accepted. I think Ween put it best, "Sure, yours was higher, but it would be like me going out, taking a photo standing up, and then taking a picture of the same exact train from a squatting postion. It's the same thing." I'm tired of seeing you come to this forum and whine when your brother's photos make it and yours don't. Have some common sense and don't send in the same photos

As for that group of four photos you brought up. They are all different. Yes, they are of the same train but are at different locations and perspectives.

Thanks for the comments guys, you saved me some typing.

Mr. Parsons:
You have uploaded that at least twice (that I know of). It is in your best interest not upload it again...it will not be accepted.

Then what's your point in posting to the forums?!?!? Are you looking for advice? If so, you got it. Are you looking for sympathy? If so, find it elsewhere. Or are you just here to bitch? If so, you're making yourself look like a moron and you can do that elsewhere...

Wow... you must be dumber than even I'd given you credit for!

You do realize that your every movement on the internet can be traced via a little thing called an IP address, right?

Oh, you didn't? Well, take a look at the image below to see what I'm talking about.

The comments I read in this thread were perhaps the most disrespectful I've ever seen on this website. Whether they had been directed at myself, Chris Starnes, or any other member of this community, they were totally inappropriate, and show a true lack of class on the part of the individual who posted them.

Since you and your brother are connected via the same IP address, I can't determine which of you made the comments, and thus, I have no choice but to remove both of your accounts, including all photos, and ban you from any further participation in RailPictures.Net.

Putting up with immature crap like this sometimes makes me wonder why I spend several hours a day of my volunteer time on this site. Grow up guys.....

Do you two think it made me feel good to delete your combined 130 photos? To tell you the truth, I feel absolutely horrible. I know, as a photographer myself, who contributes photos to not only this site, but several other aviation-related ones, just how much work went into getting those photos online here. I even went so far as to take a step outside, smoke a cigarette, and ponder over whether this was really what I wanted to do.

The fact is, though, Chris Starnes puts in countless hours of volunteer work for this website every month... heck, every day. He's been working behind the scenes for the past several hours alone correcting photo data which was entered improperly by the user -- all in an effort to give people like you a more functional database.

Nobody deserves the sort of treatment you gave Chris S, but especially him, so I stand by my decision (as difficult as it was) to remove your accounts.

I think they read it...then I went ahead with the forum ban (if I figured it out right anyway)! ;)

You're right it won't happen again. Come back when you've grown up.

I realize starting out here you might get angry, and I was for the first few rejections too. But you need to realize its not personal and iron out the technicalities of why the pic was rejected and work on getting a unique photo and not whining about it.

I and I know other members DO NOT appreciate the theatrics you two have done everytime your picture gets rejected.

I hope Railpictures continues with high standards and an excellent database of photos. Thanks guys and keep up the fine work.

Kudos to that. I went a little overboard on a shot awhile back that I thought was good and kinda yelled at Chris Starnes. Sorry about that. I've learned to not take it personally, learn from my mistakes and move on. If an appeal doesn't work, then it really wasn't meant to be here.

Just now reading this topic, some heated stuff, tell-you-what! Anyway, I, and I'm sure many other of you, have given up on complaining a long time ago (except for the very occasional good photo that gets rejected for an out-of-this-world reason). There is really no point in it, if it gets rejected for a fixable problem, FIX IT for christ sake and try it again, don't sit here whining about your miserable life while we have to read about it. We have better things to do. If you can't handle a rejection for a fault in a photo, then maybe you shouldn't post your photos here, but rather someplace like RRPictureArchives.net where there are no screeners for you to bitch at. Wheu . . . just my 2 cents.

I agree with John. I have learned to accept rejections. I remember way back when I first found out about this site and started to post photos here when I would get a rejection I usually took it personally. But now I dont. Rejections have actually helped me improve on my photography skills.

If you can't handle a rejection for a fault in a photo, then maybe you shouldn't post your photos here Agree. But technically, his photo was of good quality and composition and appropriate for database entry, but the problem was caused by he and his brother standing together, taking photos of the same train from very similar angles.

They had done the same thing in the past, came on here and whined about, got feedback, and failed to learn and the cycle was repeated.

They most certainly could have survived and got another 'takin' to,' but they put their combined <100 IQs together and reverted to simian-like behavior. As if the IP address wasn't enough, it didn't take a genius to figure out who made the ChrisStarnes*********** username. As if someone would randomly create that name the same day and decide to chime in on this thread.

It's a shame because they had some really good photos here, but their stupidity outweighed their talent...

2 weeks ago, I went on a trip with another person who actively submits photos here. In situations where we had similar images, we decided which of us was going to submit them. Sure, there were some images of mine that I'd like to see here on the site, but they would be duplicates of his. I'm sure that he could say the same thing. Remeber - don't lose focus. Photography is about enjoying yourself and producing images that you find satisfying. Getting photos accepted here is a good thing, but it shouldn't be the sole purpose for taking the images in the first place.
