Is it just me or does the top of the flagpole on the side go up into the red line? Whatever happened to SD40-2s?

PS, how do I get smilies in my post?

The code is right here.

You know, those don't look all that bad in the UP paint. Those EMD demonstrators looked like hell, though.

what would one of those baby cost.

Probably several million dollars.

Whatever happened to SD40-2s?

I cant wait to see those in NS paint...thats a rather handsome looking motor (except for that nose). I agree that the demos looked rather odd, but that was mostly the paint job (silver and blue...what the heck where the graphic guys thinking...thats almost as bad as the BNSF clown paint :)

Does anyone know if UP's order for these includes full cab elctronics and desktop controls, or do they still retain the good ol analog air gauges and AAR stands that the crews seem to prefer??

I really dont like them, but at least its a clean UP, i give them about a month before they get dirty, then they will really look bad. If its one thing i like its clean UP's, but they keep getting harder and harder to come across.

Maybe UP can keep them out of the water this time. Man the profile shot of those are ugly.

PS Wonder why there isnt a window on the door in the front?

UP doesn't like front windows on their new locos. Dunno why. Course, I have no idea of what the benifits are of having a window, except that if you are in the nose for some reason, you can see outside w/o opening the door.

I thought the GM scheme was OK. It's the body work that didn't turn out so good.

None of the CSX units have the windows in the front doors either
