View Full Version : Bad Angle/Bad Crop - Advice?

I'm far more prolific with aviation photos than rail photos, and even with 87 photos in this database, I still don't quite know what makes the screeners tick. However, bear with me - after more than a year this is my first "why did I get rejected" thread...

At any rate, this photo is nothing special, but I did make a fairly long trip to shoot some New England Central diesels and would like to get a new railroad into the database under my name. The rejection reason was twofold: bad angle and bad crop. As for the bad angle, to my eye this is basically a 3/4 wedge - and unless I went off an embankment into a drainage ditch, this was as good as it gets in Palmer, MA. As for bad crop, my goal was to show all four units in the lashup vs. just showing the lead unit. Any tips for improving this guy will be appreciated...

There is nothing wrong with that photo, it is a typical photo of a locomotive consist. Appeal it.

I agree! Nice shot! Your right I live about 20 min west of palmer and that spot where you were taking it really doesnt have alot of room at all.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I might as well appeal this one - I could go to the trouble of using another shot from the sequence and re-editing it, but I'd probably wind up with the same result.

Next question: how does one appeal? It doesn't appear that there's an appeal function the Members section - is it as simple as sending Chris an e-mail stating my case?

Thanks again -

John

John,

Should be a link in the rejection email you recieved.

Thanks, M.J. I had deleted that e-mail, but fortunately it was still sitting in the recycle bin. The photo is now officially appealed.

BTW, did you get an e-mail from me recently? I sent one out but Hotmail has been acting very flaky recently and it appears that a number of message I've sent over the past week didn't reach their intended recipients.

Well, the appeal worked - the shot's in the database now. They're pretty efficient around here, I must say. I post a lot of photos to Airliners.net, and an appeal there is typically a very lengthy process (if you ever even hear anything back about it at all).

Thanks again all and perhaps I can return the favor one day.
