Sunset rejection question

I was getting used to having most of my photo's rejected but I really thought this one would make it. If I lightened it before sending it to them and if I lighten it more the sunset losses it's color. Any advice or opinions?

Photo ID 101395 was rejected from the database.
Railroad: Metro North
Locomotive: none
Reason for Rejection: Poor lighting (too dark)

Personally, I think it's a great picture - I wouldn't change a thing.

I'd at the very least appeal it. If they still reject it, oh well, such is life. :)

It's a nice picture of a sunset, I'm just not sure there's enough train in it for Railpictures.

It is a neat shot, interesting composition. If the train/railroad relation to the photo were a little more obvious, we would likely accept it.

if I state that that Telephone pole in the photo was New York Central not NYC? What if I cut a bit more of the top off the make the cab car more obvious? Is there anything I can do to make the relationship to railroading more obvious? I mean I have a train in the pic and an old New York Central Telephone pole in the pick. Is there anything else I can do or say in the caption to make this photo acceptable?

Just a thought, you might want to play around with the gamma correction to make the colors a little more vivid, usually going down on the gamma will do this . . .

Gamma correction? How do you do that. I've got photoshop 6.0.

Well I can't tell you exactly what to do in APS, because I have a pirated full version of Paint Shop Pro 7, although, I have seen that some features are the same . . . on PSP 7 the process is as follows: on the Nav. bar, go to Colors --> Adjust --> Gamma Correction. With a command of Shift+G. I'm not sure how similar APS is, but if you can't find it, try looking it up in the help guide.

A agree with John. Try going down on gamma. You can use Microsoft Photo Editor (comes with Windows) to make the adjustment.
