View Full Version : CCKY - update

There is a lot of track work going on between Summerville and Trion. They are also doing some bridge work on the north end. It looks like they've spread 30 or 40 cars of ballast in the Trion area and some more waiting to be spread tomorrow. All storage cars (hoppers) that were on the main are now shoved south of Summerville. Lots of "extra" activity going on along with the "usual" stuff.

Interesting, thank you for this update. Is there any anticipated increase in business on the south end, or is this just needed upkeep as part of the overall rehab of the line? I recall they were working north of LaFayette last summer, which had operations on the line during evening hours instead of the usual daylight hours.

No evening ops this year, thank goodness. No increased business just yet. I guess the state (who actually owns the line) wanted to keep it upgraded just in case. And since all storage cars are now south of Summerville, maybe TVRM will run steam excursions again in the fall.

A new siding is being put in at Rock Springs. Will help with storing and switching the Shaw cars.

I'm sure that will come in handy! Any idea how many cars it will hold? On an unrelated note, how is that GP11 to run? I've always thought those are neat units, throwing a Dash 2 electrical cabinet in an old geep. Seems like that would be quite a reliable unit for a shortline.

I think the new double ended siding will hold about 30 to 35 cars.

The 1804 is really good since it was rebuilt. Good power and fast start. Really nice loco. They should get the 102 rebuilt also, very slow to load and tough to work with.
