A useful tool for railfans.

From CNN:

Their apparent infrared satellite photo of the Harrisburg area
including Enola Yard and Rockville Bridge is quite
remarkable for its detail and clarity.

Much of the Pittsburgh area is similarly covered
by an infrared photo.

However, there doesn't seem to be a way to save the images,
as you can do with Microsoft Terra-Server images.

I like those aerial photos more than the terraserver ones. I was checking out some of my railfan locations and the quality was awesome. I am disappointed, however, that Harrisburg is just about the only part of PA you can see, but they show all of New Jersey. :x Hopefully they'll add more of PA later.

Big deal. It's the exact same images terraserver.microsoft.com uses. The exact same trains are in the exact same location as on the Terraserver site. The only plus to Google's is that it navigates much faster. On Terraserver, you can zoom in much closer, also.

Actually you can't zoom in any farther on Terraserver. Also, Terraserver is black & white, not color like Google.

OK, then maybe it's just the "Urban Areas" section on terraserver that is the same as Google's imagery.

Same train at the curve by the golf course in Naperville, IL.
On the Terraserver image you can clearly see that it is a Warbonnet GP60M leading, with an NS Dash 9 and BNSF SD70MAC trailing.
It must just be the same satellite images as Terraserver's "Urban Areas". Google's maps cover the whole US in color, though.

Yes, Joe. But can you read the roadnumber
of that Warbonnet GP60M on TS?

No, but I have a 1 in 60 chance of getting it right if I guess!
