Just out of curiosity, why is a kid stealing a piece of equiptment funny comedy material, yet someone crossing some tracks the height of irresponsibilty? Seems like several years ago I recall seeing a story on the news where a good kid helped himself to a CNW engine and was finally stopped when it rolled over on a curve. Believe that was back in the late 80s.

Remember in the mid 90's a man commandeered a subway and ran the actual route until caught?

It's funny because nobody was hurt and the kid knew what he was doing. He was doing as good a job as somebody paid to drive the tram. If this kid had hijacked the tram and drove it into a car or derailed (somehow..), obviously less people would be laughing.
If you don't know what you are doing, it's not funny, especially if you or someone else gets hurt.

The kid might have thought he knew what he was doing but given that he had a couple of near misses at red lights he wasn't that clued in. I'm in Melbourne where it happened and you guys just aint getting the whole story........and I drove trains for thirty years, I've seen plenty of 'I know how to do its' and they usually don't.
