Check these two sites and you should see a GE Ecomagination ad. They seem to be very excited to show the world their environmentally friendly toasters and grills. :p

Click Transportation Rail then click Hybrid Locomotive for info on these new engines.

GE has made a big push in several news papers including the Wall Street Journal. Here's an article from today's Washington Post, "G.E. Chief Urges U.S. to Adopt Clearer Energy Policy:"

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/10/business/10green.html

The amount of electrical current that is generated by dynamic brake systems is enormous and if you look at the platform for today's locomotives, there is not a whole lot of room to install a bank of batteries.

The Green Goat takes a frame the size of a SW and installs a small diesel generator set and has plenty of room for the batteries and switch gear. GE appears to be planning to modify an existing road unit design.

I've never seen a 2-page color ad for a locomotive before.

I saw it in the NY Times, though it probably showed up in other papers too.

I have seen advertising for... I mean on... (or for?), anyway, regarding GE locomotives...
I could have expected E.M. Bell's signature on this one.

Props to GE though. Thats a first, a HUGE company like them asking for more strict rules...

Also, Ive seen a few TV ads for the ES loco here in the northwest and in the Seattle Times. That would be sweet to buy one though
