Another good railfanning day, starting with a nice CN coming out of the house at Howell as power for NB Q592
CN6013 on Q592 Evansville IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357236012SLhMfQ)
Not much was moving around Howell, so I headed north to see what was going on. Heard CSX Q265 picking up auto racks at Toyota, so I headed there.
NS9680 on Q265 Princeton IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357238102tzJsQy) That was taken off the US Hwy 41 overpass, a stunt I'll not try again because of traffic.
Heard SB Q121 passing signals up north, so I headed to Kings for a shot.
CSX 629 on Q121 Kings IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357240109iDzkEu)
Shortly after that, Q265 was cleared through. I moved a mile or so down the line to catch him.

There was a NB coal train in the siding at Inglefield which got a signal to proceed north once Q121 and Q265 passed. NB shots are not good this time of the morning, so I tried a broadside.
CSX 7539 on T981 Kings IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357243030phqwrm) Yeah, it sucks. Sorry.
NS 375 was coming in from the east, and had to drop of empty racks for Toyota. He then was cleared to Princeton east, where I got a couple shots. An interesting rainbow of power.

I heard a dispatcher mention a coal train sitting at the old AW&W yard, waiting to get on the main. I headed up there and found he couldn't leave until westbound 112 passed. I headed on east and found a spot to shoot 112.
NS9548 on 112 Winslow IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357252150zJGajK)
The coal train then moved out on the main to head east. I attached the big lens to get a shot of it entering the main from AW&W.
NS4625 on 415 Marysville IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357254517iTlDNL) The light was not great, but I love that shot.
Here's another, a little wider.

Midway back to Princeton, 375 got cleared to go on west. This train had such an interesting set of power that I wanted to catch it again. I drove as hard as I thought I could get by with for a shot at Lyles, but the rear of his train was passing as I arrived. I raced back to the main hwy and went towards Illinois, for a try to catch him at Mt Carmel. A slow order on the Wabash River bridge allowed me to catch him again.

Train 239 was right on his tail, so I crossed back in to Indiana for a shot of him.

Headed back to the Toyota wye and found 112 parked on the curve.

The CSX channel came alive with a SB N288 clearing signals north of Princeton. I had never heard this train #, so headed over to Kings to see what it was. A nice UP led coal train with an unpatch SP second unit. Nice!

I wanted another shot of the SP unit so I flew south to try to catch up again. He was moving and clearing all the signals, so this was gonna be a race. Along the way a railfan buddy called from Evansville to see where I was and I advised him of the N288 so he could find a place to shoot it. I finally managed to get ahead of him and caught another shot at Inglefield.

He had a rear DPU of which I snapped a through-the-window shot on the way past.

I then hooked up with my railfan buddy and we went tag team railfanning.
Back at Princeton NS I16 was taking empties back to Toyota.

And even more empties came in on train I84.

Two east bounders were heading towards Princeton so we headed to Lyles. Had to shoot broadsides due to sun.

Traffic fell off on both lines until we heard a NB intermodal on CSX at close to sunset. We went to kings for a fading sun shot.
CSX7325 on Q128 Kings IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357288603EdLyMY)
He stopped on the main, so a SB was coming in on the siding. We heard 591 coming in, but it was almost dark before he made it.
CSX115 on Q591 Kings IN (http://community.webshots.com/photo/357233957/357292213wIDCGn)
Daylight disappeared, but Q120 was on the move north so we set up for a night shot at a crossing in Haubstadt.

And came the end of another great railfanning day in Indiana.

I caught this one a little farther east at Salvisa on Sunday afternoon. It's always great to see a veteran N&W SD40-2, especially one with the correct horn. :D

We were commenting on how the horn sounded like a sick cow.
