Another great day of railfanning, it seems Sunday is the day! Started off @ Howell with a third shift yard crew bringing in Q515 as Y368.

It is passing track construction under way to add a second main.
Met up with my railfan buddy Tom, but he said he was going to have to go in to work for a bit around 10 or 11. I headed on north while he stuck around at Howell. Got up to Kings and found two SB trains in the siding, G037 working on adding power to a grain drag and Q515.

I drove south to watch the power hook up to G037.

After he got the air pumped up, he called the dispatcher and was informed he could pull once Q121 passed on the main going south. I drove back up north Kings to get a shot of 121.

From there I headed south back to I-64 for a shot I have had pictured for a long time but never taken. I figured (hoped!) traffic would be light on the interstate so I could get this shot. It wasn't, but I took it anyway.

I wish I had gotten that intermodal that passed before this grain train, as it would have wrapped all the way back around the S and out of sight. Oh well.
A SB coal train got clearance through Kings, so I pulled a U-ey on the interstate and headed back to lower ground at St. James for a shot.

Tom called me to inform me there was a 7 engine train headed north out of Howell and he was going to chase it. We agreed to meet at Stacer, a little burg just south of the interstate. We got there in time to catch T981 coal train leaving the siding at Inglefield and going north.

The 7 engine train was Q514 and would soon occupy the siding at Inglefield. T981 passed Kings which allowed Q515 to head south now to Evansville.

Q514 then got to go north, captured first in Stacer:

Q597 slipped in to the siding prior to Q514's arrival and the crew was awaiting a cab.

Q588 was called north, and came through with an ungly grey rent a wreck.

I heard NS train 167 get a track warrant to Princeton so I headed over to Lyles for a shot as it passed the elevator.

CSX Q244 had stopped at Toyota to pick up some car racks, which gave me enough time to catch Q596 which was held up behind it. Got a shot of 596 as it neared Patoka In.

After this, the NS was starting to get busy, with three trains called in to Princeton from the east. I headed over to Francisco to see what I could catch and train 284 passed right behind me. I had to wait for it to clear, then hauled it back to Douglas for a shot.

Train 239 was supposed to come in after 284, but it was stopped by a defect detector over near Ayshire. This allowed coal train 70T to leave the mine and head west.

I really wanted to chase this one west, but the cloud cover was getting pretty annoying. I decided to head back south over the river to Henderson to see if anything was shakin' there. Q244 (a different on than pictured above) was coming in from Louisville, but was a ways out. There were a couple trains moving north from the siding at Robards, so I decided to find a place to catch them. I was rewarded with
absolutely the most boring power CSX has to offer. I present to you Q120

Q244 was arriving at east Henderson and would be there for awhile. I stopped and got a shot on the way back to downtown.

G151 was stopped at north Henderson for a SB grain train coming across the river. It was G594, capture here on the bridge.

I headed back across the river and to the opposite of the trestle to get Q265 heading south.

Met back up with Tom @ Howell, but the light was waning and I was too tired to shoot any more.
