3 quesitons:

1) If this is a race, why does 4449 have about half as many cars as 8444?
2) Why is 8444 being helped by another 2 engines?
3) Who won this race?

I would assume why UP put an SD60M on their train is for extra dymanic braking, since they have a longer train. Not sure who won the "race", though.

No, I'm pretty sure it an SD60M considering the date of the photo and all. Also I see that E9 hiding behind the smoke, this is still an interesting photo. :) I think ICE would still like to know who won this "race", cause I know I want to know. Anyone have any guesses or answers?

That was by no means a "race", but a staged photo op during a NRHS convention in LA...
