Whats a good freeware program for doing a lot of editing to photos? Irfanviews ok, but not for fixing up scratches and speckling, especially for photos coming off of my scanner. I'm especcially looking for features like unsharpen mask. I've only got 27 days left on my free trial of PSP.

Hmm,
Well the new google.com program called PICASA is a great program to lighten up images, and a few other things. I dont think it has an unsharp mask feature but it may.

Picasa is a real joy to work with. I recommend it to anyone who likes simplicity and well thought out work flow. It does have sharpening feature.
