Hey everyone. I haven't posted a trip report in a while. We'll see how I do. ;)

Me and my family decided to head out to the Transcon. Altogether, we went to 5 cities, most of them having a population under 200. All corn fields, and all rural. It's awesome out there since it's very quiet. All you can hear are the crickets chirping. A few cars go by from time to time. We saw some good trains. It was a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the 70's. You can hear the trains coming for miles. Speed limits out there for freight are 70 MPH. No better sound than hearing an intermodal fly by. Now that I have my permit, I drove the whole time (Interstate also :-D). I drove a total of 114 miles, which was about 3 hours total. We headed out to one of my favorite spots in Ransom. There is a grain elevator with the tracks right there. After waiting about 15 minutes, the gates went down and an autorack rounded the corner.

We then headed down to the bridge in Ransom (which is visible in 119377). After waiting about 20 minutes there, we heard a horn from about 3 miles away. Shortly after, we saw the headlight. I could tell that it had some older power. I was hoping it would be a green BN to match the colors of the scenery. Three BN Geeps rounded the corner with a manifest. GP38 2344, GP9B 1701 one of only 3 and GP28M 1513. The engineer gave us some honks too. Nice horn on that BN! Here's what I came up with.

Everyone have a great day and root for those BEARS! They were winning 31-6 at halftime. :) Enjoy and thanks for looking! Nick

I could've sworn I've seen one of those GP9B units. Or maybe it was the GE kind.

My dad told me he saw one in the western Chicago suburbs. I'll have to ask him if he got it's number.
