View Full Version : Unlevel horizon with D50

I just got a Nikon D50, and for the most part it's working out great (I got my first photo in the database with it yesterday). However, I'm noticing a strange problem. It seems every picture I take is titled slightly to the left.

At first I thought I had been holding the camera slightly crooked, but I've gotten it on so many photos it seems to be the fault of something else. Anyone have any ideas what might cause this, and how to fix it?

If you're hand-holding the camera, you can't be sure yet. Put the camera on a tripod with a leveling bubble, and ensure the camera is level. Then shoot some subjects with very definitive vertical and horizontal lines. More than one subject, at more than one distance, would be best. Then look at your results.

If your test shots show level, but your hand held shots are always tilting left, then maybe you're jerking the camera down (right) when you press the shutter button.
