Here's (http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=10132/) my photo that got rejected for "Too much grain." I will usually agree with the reason for rejection but this time I'm making an appeal. Do you guys think this photo has "Too much grain" or what exaclty? What are your opinions?

Mike, just so you know. Your link doesn't work.

There ya go.
About the photo, it is a little grainy, but I have seen grainier ones accepted recently. Anyways, appeal it and see what happens.

By the way, isn't that photo already on the site?

Don't know why my link doesn't work, I copied it right from the reject list... but thanks for fixing it! :)

ICE, you must be thinking of this photo: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=26635 Same day, same location.

Let's see how my appeal goes...

Yes, that one. I remember you menitoning it as your favorite photo.

My appeal got rejected :( . However, the screener was nice enough to give me some helpful tips and pointers to better my photo. So I cropped it down a bit and uploaded it again. Let's see how it goes... :)

See, thats all it takes. We (the crew) are not a total bunch of A-holes like a few people seem to think. If you are polite and 'easy-going' with us, we will be more than glad to try and help you out. Thanks!

I've had my appeals. Just when I think I had seen every reason for rejection... I am proven wrong. I have had:

bad motive;
too much grain;
blurry;
bad angle;
too much white, washed out;
bad color (not enough color depth);
poor lighting (backlit);
insufficient height;
bad cropping (too much sky);
too much noise;
obstructing objects (foreground clutter);
horizon unlevel;
bad scan (scan lines/quality) [I scan at 1800 dpi, full screen PS files are seen at 8%. I didn't see any lines.]
bad quality.

At one time I had 19 rejections in my profile; I guess that is the trouble in working with amatuers. I appreciate the screeners for taking the time to give suggestions when they don't have to. I do get frusturated after all the work on pics [correcting some numerous times for Photoshop-able rejections, only to have them rejected for bad angle or motive], but I am not going to flip out like Pumpkin dude and his POTW ravings!

Now it has been too cloudy to snap photos so my submissions have stopped... for now.

It's been overcast here, too. For 2 weeks now! :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

btw, what's POTW?

Oh....hehe

Yeah, snow photography is great (looks like it). I've never tried it. It gets VERY cold here...(*shudders*)

Hey, no problem Chris!

I have learned to keep good self control and respect for others through my life and it shows, even here.

Will and busyEMT, snow photography is great! It can get cold at times but its well worth it! :)
