I know locomotives change hands many times throughout the years, but I still find it fascinating when I stumble upon one from my past in a very different place then where I remember it.
Case in point is this photo of Goderich-Exeter Railway GP-40 #4046 I just stumbled upon...

This is former Virginia Southern #512 (ex-UP 512; nee MKT 206). This was the locomotive I took my very first cab ride in during the summer of '97. I was sad to see it go, but rather then get it fixed, VS (as a puppet of the NC&VA) ditched it and got some rebuilt GP7s instead.
Here are a few crappy pics that I took in my teens...
The first two are of 512 in Keysville, VA, circa May '95

This last one was taken during the summer of '97 (also in Keysville). Man in the cab is one of my best friends, Greg Gunshore (currently employed by the Morristown & Erie).
