View Full Version : UP 844 in Central TX, Sunset Route trains, and a south GA shortline

I just got back from San Antonio on business, but, fortunately, had some spare time to find some trains.

I didn't have a radio so I have no idea what the train symbols are, but I found it easy to find trains by following parallel roads. Those doublestacks easily stand out against the central TX topography and plants.

Here are some pictures of it, other trains on the Sunset Route west of San Antonio, and a south GA shortline.

UP 844 on May 12th EB on the Sunset Route:
UP 844 @ Anamacho, TX:

UP 844 @ Oddlaw, TX:

UP 844 @ Uvalde, TX:

May 10th on the Sunset Route:
EB UP Rock train @ La Coste, TX passing the town water tower:

That afternoon, I found a WB UP auto-rack train, and chased it for a couple hours and caught it 8 times. Here are a couple shots of it:

Dunlay, TX:

Pearsen, TX:

Hondo, TX:

D'Hanis, TX:

The other locations I got this train at were north Macdona, La Coste, Noonan, and North Dunlay.

I also got back out on the sunset route on May 11th and found a couple trains:
WB UP Stacks @ Sabinal, TX with two UP GEVO's:

WB Mixed freight @ Knippa, TX:

Lastly, back to GA, I found the GFRR parked in Adel with a matched set of those wide-can GP's as I drove from ATL to south FL at the end of my school term.

Thanks for looking,
