OK, I'm buying a new camera soon (replacing my aging Kodak DX3600) and I have narrowed it down to two choices: Canon PowerShot A70 or the Canon G3. I'm willing to spend anywhere from $250-375.

But I have a few questions: Which one should I get? What one is the better value? Which one is better in general?

Guilford,

I have a Canon A70. I've found it to be an excellent camera. It fits well in your hand and is compact. It also has a small video record feature. Below are a few pics I took with it.

I now use a Digital Rebel.

I would consider the Fuji FinePix 3800. 3MP plus a great 6x optical zoom. I use the FinePix 2800 which is the 2mp version of the 3800 & love it. I'm going to get the Digital Rebel soon(spring), but will still keep the Fuji handy. All my Railpics. posts are with the Fuji.

Two of my friends use the Finepix 3800. They say it's great! :)

Thanks for the replies!

I have looked into the Fuji 3800 and I've considered it. The extra zoom makes it even more atractive. I ruled out the G3 since its a little beyond my price range but the A70 is still a strong contender with me.

But deep in my mind im dreaming of a Digital Rebel (EOS300D here in Europe). But well, that one's actually out of my range right now...

I would choose the Fuji 3800. You will like the more powerful zoom and the comfortable SLR type design.
