CSX buys $1 million worth of Super Bowl tickets
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - CSX Corp., which earlier this week announced it was planning to cut as many as 1000 non-union employees from its ranks, agreed recently to purchase $1 million worth of 2005 Super Bowl tickets. The game is to be held in Jacksonville, the headquarters city of CSX.
“These were two separate decisions made after a long and thoughtful process,” said CSX spokesman Gary Sease. “The first was to restructure our company to better serve our customers and meet the long-term needs of CSX. Secondly, we have a responsibility as a leading corporate citizen in Jacksonville to support one of the major events, the 2005 Super Bowl, that will happen in this city’s history.”
The tickets were provided by Jacksonville XXXIX, an organization that is selling corporate ticket packages to raise funds to finance improvements in the football stadium, home of the NFL’s Jaguars.
