.VOB to .WMV, .MOV, or .AVI

I have some video from Strasburg taken this past weekend while they were running trains with a helper and want to post some here but I cannot edit the .VOB file. Does anyone know of any (free or cheap) programs that can convert the VOB file to .WMV or .AVI so I can edit it? Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated. The video was taken with a Sony Handycam(?) directly onto a DVD.

I have been using AVS editor which is relatively inexpensive and has quite a few transfer/editing options.
