Multiple trains in one video

I just started uploading video to RV (I usually shoot video as an afterthought with my main focus on the stills) and I'm wondering what the general consensus is on mashing together several clips of trains and uploading one compilation video. I know I've seen it several times on RV and I could really go both ways on doing it. On one hand, if you were chasing a single train it might be easier for someone to watch one clip instead of 5 30 second clips for each viewing or to compile all video from a day's shooting at a single location. On the other hand, you end up loosing the ability to search for the multiple locations or multiple locomotives.
So, what are your thoughts on compilations?

I like compilations better than multiple uploads of the same train/location or even day. It makes it like buying a DVD and getting 30 mins (in this case maybe 5) instead of just 1 and having to by another DVD for the next runby. I think that makes sense.

I have two videos and one is a compilation of two runbys from a weekend spent at Strasburg.

I am currently working on two longer clips of the UP 3985 and MILW 261 both shot in the summer of 2005. They will feature the whole day of chasing since I only got a few 'good' spots for each.

I still haven't loaded any videos yet, but I would not do multiple trains in one clip. I might do one train from various locations in one clip, but I haven't fully decided and probably won't until I start actually uploading videos. Even if I have four locations from one train, it then becomes a matter of editting it so that it keeps the viewers attention.

Some thoughts --

I might chose the first location which bores the viewer to tears so much they X out and miss the best run by of the day.

I guess there could be loading factos to consider. One clip that is one minute long should load faster than one clip that is five minutes long.

Also, if someone is looking for a location, it might be lost in the clip. For example, if someone wants to see a video from Cayce Riverwalk, there might not be enough space for me to list tht as the location if the other places I shot the train where in Columbia, for example.

Just some food for thought. I'm still having issues getting the video I do have loaded onto the computer at work onto a DVD since they guerd very closely the internet sites the editting hubs can link to.

I would prefer to watch single train videos less than 4 mins if the action is that..

if you are stationed at a Hot track with multiple train fequency - such as Tehachapi,CA or Mukilteo,WA - then that might be worth a longer look...but most people see trains from the windshield of their car - and that is what I like...a train going by -(be it trestle- tunnel-bridge-station arrival- station departure) a simple run-by. Plus it's easier on the screeners if they are required to watch the whole video before approving it.

When I used to rate videos on FL350(not anymore) there was nothing worse than opening the screener page and see 50 videos waiting and 30 of them were 5+min view of a wing in the cloud for 4:30mins , then :30 of the landing......
