I'm still kinda new at this hobby, and I have a few questions about copyrights that I'm sure someone can help me with. What exactly needs to be done to copyright an image? Does simply adding the word "copyright" and a name and date to the image mean that it is offically copyrighted? If not, what more is there? I will greatly appreicate any help I can get with this.

Thanks,
Matt

I've always wondered too. I think there's more to it than just adding 'copyright'.

I think all the info to do it right is found HERE. (http://www.copyright.gov/register/visual.html)

Under current U.S. copyright laws, the creator of "intellectual property" such as photographs automatically owns the copyright to their creation unless the work is being produced under contract for someone else. It's not really necessary to go through the copyright registration process unless you expect to have to defend your copyright in court.
