I never liked UP from the get-go, and here may be a reason why:
Why does UP feel it necessary to patch their acquired units with a UP shield so quickly? I mean, it's annoying to see a unit in SP or C&NW paint coming down the tracks and then seeing the UP shield and yellow patched numbering! The numbering patch I can live with, but the unmatched paint of a UP shield is just wrong. Imagine if NS or CSX did this with their Conrail units. Just think what an SD80MAC would look like with a CSX or Horse patch on the nose where the CONRAIL QUALITY belongs! Good on those two for not doing a half-a'd patch.
