Probably foreground clutter. Neat shot though...

I thought the blue and yellow plants looked cool

I would guess either foreground clutter or bad cropping.

Well, what was the rejection reason? The way the screeners think, I'd say foreground clutter. I'd appeal and maybe brighten it up 1 or 2 points on your photo editor.

Its a great shot however there seems to be a lot of forground, and there is some bushes blocking the unit. I like the shot but the screeners seem to like tighter crops and a perfect sight or the units (from my experience with them anyways...)

While I do like that shot with the wildflowers in the foreground, I'd say that the grass up near the tracks blocking parts of the locomotive. Cropping should be a little tighter on the left side as well. Don't get yourself down, or take it personal when a photo is rejected. You can always appeal it with a good explanation of what you were trying to capture, and it may actually get accepted. Trust me, it works.

Here's a little tip to get rid of grass as foreground clutter. First, you can try a higher elevation, such as standing in the back of a truck, stepladder, etc... If that doesn't work, invest in a good weedeater and carry it in your vehicle. You'll probably never have to worry about grass as foreground clutter again. :D
