There has been rumor that GO Transit will be purchasing 27 new units (possibly F59PHI's) It is for certain that they will be buying units for I was talking with a mechanic from GO transit a couple days ago and he did say there was about 30 of them, so the rumor sounds like it could be legit to me. If anyone knows any press releases or futher information could they inform me VIA this forum please!

Why is it always 27 locomotives? Metra bought 27 MP36s, now Go is buying 27 F59s. The commuter service magic number?

Well Joe nothing is ever for certain. VIA was suppose to get a $1 billion grant from the government to improve track conditions and add a high speed rail link from toronto pearson airport to toronto union station, one of the reasons VIA had the bombardier jet train for testing. Now there will be no high speed link from the airport to union they are going to be putting the old budd cars for that. There always is talk of new equipment but very seldom do we ever see any. There was also talk of VIA getting more P42DC's and has that ever happend??? How about the "renashit" equipment that was suppose to be on the quebec-windsor corridor fall of 2002 there is only two trains that run it. So there is always "TALK" of these deals, thats why I want to know if there have been any press releases about the GO equipment, by the way if GO does get F59PHIs they are going to look terrible with the tri-level bombardier coaches they have. Look at my pictures of GO and imagine a "isolated cab" locomotive pulling them, it will look terrible. Anyways just a reminder for anyone who does not know, GO does not transport any GOATS  (inside joke) GOAT TRAINS!!!

It does not look that bad if you hook up a F59PHI with 10 Bombardier BI-Level Coaches. You know its coming the F59PHI and it cannot be avoided, because what is the next generation of F59PH's? I think this best deal that GO Transit can with the amount of money that they are getting from the Canadian Government.

I suggest that they should borrow F59PHI from Amtrak or Metrolink and see how it runs on the CN Mainline.

Here is the F59PHI featured in Microsoft Train Simulator in the GO Livery with re-paints of Amtrak Superliners into GO Livery. :)
I actually played the game before and drove the GO Transit F59PHI and I highly recommand that GO Transit phase out their fleets of F59PH.

but those are the wrong coaches. those are amtrak coaches in GO colours. The F59PHI looks like money ass with the BBD coaches, just for the record they are tri-level coaches. There is a kinda "half" level at either end of the coach.

Also they cant just phase them out, there is almost 50 of the units. Also GO is no longer government owned and opperated. They are now privatly run so cost factor too. Those F59PH are only V12 which does not produce the HP needed to pull 10 of them BBD coaches. They can only do 8 at the most. Anyways, they still run them at 85mph so who cares!
