A Day of Acceptable Power

Taking advantage of some excellent weather, Randy Moore, Emmett Bell, and I decided to head out this morning to capture the action around Danville and on the Second District. It turned out to be a good day for EMD power (heading in the right direction too). Traffic died down in the mid-afternoon, but that did allow us to enjoy lunch at the Science Hill Burger Shack. A total of 18 trains were seen, and four more were heard on the radio. The great weather today allowed for quite a few "keepers". The highlights are in order as follows.

Looks like you had a pretty good day. I was thinking about heading out today to do some railfanning myself but it was cloudy and crappy so I decided to call it off since i have a very unsucessful day yesterday with clouds. Insted I went to see Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle, excellent movie I might add. Anyways back on topic... Yea not a good day to go out for me but looks like you had an awsome day!

ou Know its gonna be a groovy day when...Its August and the temp is 49 degrees
when you wake up...There is hardly a cloud in the sky and it stays that way all
day...99% of the Southbound trains have more EMD's than GE's and the is a
healthy mix of "furrin" power...

Caleb, Randy and myself departed in a Southward direction just after sunrise
this morning to find the CNO&TP and LS alive with trains...it was going to be a
Heavy Southbound day. 143 had been reported with a MRL leader, so that was our
goal..the rest was just icing on the cake...lots of good shots, and we even
managed a relaxing bacon cheeseburger lunch with hot fudge sunday desert at the
Science Hill Dairy pimp during a lull.. Here are a few of the better ones..
