I got video the other day of the BNSF QLACNYC604 which had British Broadcast Corporation's intermodal container that was sent around the world.

I know this video will never make RV, since I didnt have my tripod. just wanted to share it with you

Perhaps you could grab a still from the footage and send it to the BBC?

If anybody else spots this container, you can send your pictures in and read about the project HERE (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/business/2008/the_box/default.stm).

Thanks for the link, Janet. It lead to an interesting short article, and a reference to a longer article in Foreign Affairs (serious US foreign policy journal, bimonthly) by Mark Levinson, author of "The Box" which is an excellent history of containerization, albeit with a US focus (the idea did develop here, but there is also, for example, a full chapter on the impact of containerization on the city of New York).

I'll be tracking the issue down.

I watched the video, even paused and tried to frame-by-frame it when the container was supposedly going by. I didn't see anything special...what am I missing?

Warning, if you watch this video, make sure the volume is turned down on your system or the sound will shred your speakers.

After the first train goes by (and there is that pointer inserted that shows nothing as far as I could see), there is a repeat when they show the container in question. Then a second view of the train. I may have the sequence wrong, I looked at it earlier today.

Janet provided the link that gives the post some sense. It is a specially painted (for the BBC) container whose movements are being tracked to give people a sense of how the container industry works.

I also got some photos and video of the container. The photo is attached and I will post links to the videos as soon as Youtube starts working again.

Interesting concept. Was there ever any "special" power on any of the trains leading this container?
