Hello all! I am new to sharing my videography work and was in need of some suggestions. I attempted last night to upload one of the videos I had taken on my last railfan trip on Saturday but come to find out that it didn't upload as widescreen as it should have. I noticed this when I got the rejection note of "Aspect ratio problem" from a screener.
I am using Pinnacle Studio 12 and saving the videos as .WMV at 640x480 resolution. The video plays fine and in widescreen in Windows Media Player as it should, however after uploaded it uploads as (I'm assuming) 4:3 ratio.
What could the problem be and how might I fix it. Any suggestions are welcomed as I would love to share my videos with everyone.

I use Pinnacle Studio 12 as well. I'm still new to this program so I hope this works for you.
Before editing anything, go to setup/capture source
Make sure the aspect ratio is set to 16:9
Now you go to setup/capture format
click on "Mpeg1/2" and "custom" under the presets.
In the video settings box select "Mpeg2" and set the resolution to "720x480
Now go to setup/project prefrences
Near the bottom left you will see the project format box. Click on the "use this format" button. Use the down arrow and look "ntsc widescreen"...click ok.
Now you can start your editing session. You should stay in the widescreen format right though and into the up loading to RV.net.

I tried what you said, however it didn't work out for me. The software doesn't detect my Canon FS100.
I transfer all my files directly from my memory card to the computer. Any other suggestions?

If you've not done this yet.....
Here are some keys to unlock some applications. They were free downloads from Pinnacle.
1. Launch your Pinnacle application.
2. Go to the Help menu and select "Enter Activation Keys"
3. Enter the Activation Keys listed below
MP3
LAFSC-EAAAA-ACXGA-ZCVMM-ZQAAB
Dolby 2 Channel
LAFSC-FAAAA-ACXGA-GAYXV-HNDPG
MPEG-4/DivX
LAFSC-JAAAA-ACXGB-FQUZP-XVUKB
MPEG-2 Unlock
LCEXH-NAAAA-ACXGA-DLKRD-ZQMCK
Once the Activation Keys are entered, the Premium content or features you previously purchased will be reactivated.
I'm stumped why the widescreen does not stay on the uploading.. I'll keep testing on my end.

I found a work around that works for me. In short, I make the video in Pinnacle, then open the video in Windows Movie Maker and resave the video in 4:3 and it makes the video show the black bars. Not the most productive way to work, but it works none the less and only takes an additional 5 minutes or so.
Thanks for the activation keys as well.
