I am kind of confused on this. How to use this in conjunction with rail photography. I read that a lens with a aperture of f2.8 will produce it's best images at f5.6 or two stops smaller than the widest aperture. Ok true but how do I figure that out. Do I multiply f2.8 x 2 (stops) to get f5.6, or what? My camera is f2.8 maximum and f8 lowest.

Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 38-380mm. It's a built in lens. I can't afford a digital SLR, so I had to go with the second best thing. My problem with my Digital ZLR is that my camera wants to shoot at a high shutter speed and wide aperture. I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can better my self and my photographs.
