800x600 or 1024x768

Which do you guys prefer?

Generally, websites seem to prefer 1024x768, but I feel when I downsize my shots to 800x600 it becomes less grainy, and gets sharper. So what do you guys think? And which has a higher chance of getting accepted?

I prefer to have mine around 900px wide. That keeps the file within the window on most monitors and still is large enough to show everything in detail like I would like it too.
