unfortunatley they had a missahap a while ago where the 3 locomotive consist was spreading the rails on that line... so the wieght limitation is now two locomotives.
that dictates they use the DX's for the milk train which has a catch 22 situatiom where they can only pull 16 loaded tankers up the westmere bank.

its not so bad now. now that they have shut sown the stratford okhura line (cheap arse government wont fix a 400 000 dollar derailment) all the dry goods, cheese etc gets pulled back to marton, turned around and sent up the main line....so there some good railfanning to be had at the marton yards...

about the only plus is listening to the dft's winding up as they leave marton for hawera with the refridgerated container trains... two DFT's can pull a rake of 28 UK spec flat cars with containers up the westmere bank no sweat

Really . . . don't mean to sound rude or anything; but do you enjoy seeing those milk trains? I personally don't like them, if they were longer, then yes, i might get to like them more. But then again, catching WAB 794 near her home town is pretty cool!

As you can see in my profile I'm from Upper Hutt, Wellington.
