Suggestions on bad cropping, please!
 

This photo has been rejected for poor cropping multiple times. I've tried more/less sky, more/less grass, more/less around train.

What am I not seeing? Suggestions please?!?!?

Too tight on both sides. Can you back out some?

Especially, in front.

Here is a previous rejection with more space on both sides. I wish the screeners would be more specific.

The rear is ok, but still not enough up front and I think they are having problems with all the dead space up front.

If you can fix the crop, they are next going to hit you for unlevel (rotate slightly CW) and then they will get you for bad color/or not enough color since your exposure is sort of "washed out and/or over exposed.

They might also pop you for "high sun" just for shits and giggles due to the shadows off the radiator vents and the plow.

They already got the tilt.....too much ccw........and too much color saturation. Thanks for the reply!!! You're comments are appreciated!

I think the main crop problem is how far you are from the train and all the space in the foreground - like in my example.

If there's a group of guys to give suggestions on bad cropping, it would be this group!

Take your "more space" attachment and add even more to the front. Additionally, you are pretty much centered vertically. IMO, I would add more foreground and cut some sky since it isn't that great.

I wouldn't have wasted any time and just hit it with the "Bad Angle" death blow. The utility pole growing out of the cab is awful. A frame or two earlier would have avoided that.

Poles like that are framing elements and people need to visualize that before the train comes.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. I wish I could post all of the variations of this shot that I've submitted. I've addressed every rejection...too much color...too little color....too much tilt in both directions....too much sky....too much foreground...etc...etc...etc...for some reason, the screeners just don't want this shot. This will go on record for having more rejections than any I've ever submitted.

I am surprised it got rejected. By itself it is a rather dull image visually, but the caption information gives it a rather interesting story line. It probably would be a more informative image if it showed more of the cutting in relation to the surrounding countryside.

yet another resubmission..........rejected for being "too oversharpened." I softened it a bit, and guess what............rejected for being "too soft"!!

And more importantly they gave you "Poor Lighting (High Sun)" which is a killer rejection..... and should have been given much, much earlier in the screening process. Though it doesn't seem that bad to me in that respect.

So as to not have to start another thread, how about a cropping suggestion for this obviously poor shot?
