Foreground clutter
Am I the only one to see a slight foreground clutter here ???
[photoid=738908] And you will get three for the price of one ................ ;-) |
I do see it. I also see no way around it. Not exactly a populous shot here either so that may be why it got a pass. It's still there in Downtown Deer Lodge if anyone wants to take a stab at it. There's a cute little signal and realistic catenary up by it now too. Maybe a drone from 250' agl is the ticket..

I would not even dare to think submitting such a "daube" (French word). But even if I would submit a similar picture with a European electric engine behind the fence, it would certainly be rejected (and that would be fully justified). Pro-US bias? Not at all, I swear it!

"It's like those French have a different word for everything."

No worries, the appreciation of foreground clutter is very variable. See this one: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/738910/
Just another lottery... |

Just an observation, and that's all it is.....
The photographers (including the one most recently cited) who are often used as examples of favoritism toward US contributors all appear to have some other things in common. Most of them have been contributing "forever" here, they have been responsible for millions of views on this site......and we never see them complaining about their rejections here. Just sayin'..... |

Back to the Little Joe, one to document the display, fine with that, very popular subject.
I like my Joe's at Deer Lodge little dusty. Bob |

My recent comment on the foreground clutter makes absolutely no reference to favoritism towards American contributors. I deeply respect the photographer cited in this specific case, as I respect all the other photographers who contribute to this site. My comment would have been exactly the same if the photo had been taken in a country other than the US. I do not complain about my rejections either, but I just wanted to point out how the selection criterias on the part of screeners concerning the foreground clutter are very variable and inconsistent. Kind regards, Daniel |

Looking very closely, I can see a blade of grass hiding the third axle of the second bogie of the first locomotive. ;) Very nice picture by the way! Welcome to the club! |

A big thank you for everyone's comments and advice, always very useful. Rejigged a slightly different frame and the shot was accepted. One can never stop learning.
